Where have you gone, tony lane?
I'm sure my less blog-ative partner will object to my categorizing this entry as grave, but in my world, this is just about the worst thing possible. The editors of The New Yorker somehow saw fit to assign David Denby to review Kill Bill—Volume 1. Why, why, why? I have a friend, James, who once told me that every week when he gets his New Yorker he flips to "The Current Cinema" and if he sees it's a Denby week and not an Anthony Lane week he gets depressed. James, I'm sorry to tell you, this is gonna be a bad week.
